In the 2007 - 2008 school year the kids at Grace Park took a survey about activities they like. They listed activities that won't be a surprise such as basketball, baseball, skating, running, jumping rope, etc.
They like to play with their friends, jump rope, make snowmen, jump in leaves and roller blade.
They also like to watch TV, play on the computer, play Nintendo, and Wii. A few surprising answers such as reading, doing math, science and nails (as in painting nails).
Our take away from the survey was they can list lots of different activities. Are they doing these activities? How does being active differ from exercise? And how does this impact our children's health? And how do we measure this?
