Grace Park Health Council
Our Goal
The health council's goal for the 2008- 2009 school year is 80% of Grace
Park student's will be able to identify healthy lifestyle choices.
Dear Parents
The Ridley School District recognizes that student wellness and proper
nutrition are related to the students’ physical well-being and their
readiness to learn. The School Board has asked that each school
establish a School Health Council to promote student wellness. Grace
Park’s School Health Council is a group of educators, parents, students,
and community members, working together to make recommendations
for school health policies and practices.
Our School Health Council is working to promote healthier food choices
and more physical activity, and to find ways to make sure our schools are
as healthy as possible. The school environment is one of the most
powerful influences in the lives of students, and can significantly help to
create and promote healthy habits and behaviors. But we can’t do it alone
– this needs to be a community effort!
Our School Health Council meets monthly to discuss and implement our
student wellness program. Our goal for the 2008-2009 school year is to
promote both physical activity and healthy eating choices. This year Mrs.
Hedges and Mrs. McNeely will continue to be our parent representatives
along with Alayna Pezick and Gabrielle Rapone as the student
representatives. Mr. Himler and Mrs. Robinson are the teacher
representatives along with our school nurse, Mrs. Borzillo.
If you have any questions about our student wellness program, please do
not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Bruce Horne
